San Diaaago

November 17, 2013

We spent the day with Linhberg, visiting the USS Midway and the Maritime Museum of San Diego. It was my first time on an aircraft carrier so I was excited and looked forward to learning about how it all opetes. There was a veteran on the deck talking about the procedure for launching aircraft; going over all the hand signals and their meanings. Miramar was where the Navy’s Top Gun school started, so the USS Midway had a small section about that too. We were pretty amped after watching Top Gun at Linhberg’s apartment the night before.

The U.S. submarine, in comparison to the Soviet one, seemed a bit more cool (temperature wise) and sterile. The Soviet submarine was more yellow. I’m not sure what kind of mood the two submarines were trying to convey, but it was a very noticeable contrast.
