My Last Vacation with Mom: Philadelphia

June 17, 2013

Our second stop on the trip was good ol’ Philly; the City of Brotherly Love. After we picked up my cousin and aunt, we stopped for lunch. Of course we had to stop by Pat’s and Geno’s to get our philly cheesesteak fix. I didn’t have a real preference to one over the other, because they were both good.

Independence Hall was just an amazing, historic place to visit. It was hard to fathom that this was where the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution were adopted.

The Philadelphia Museum of Art is such an iconic location in movie history. I knew they had moved the Rocky Balboa statue, but it was still cool to actually see it. Yes, there were people running up the stairs like in the scene, including us.

The next day, we stopped by the U.S. Mint, which actually ended up being a really cool place. We got to see the new $100 bill before they were released in circulation, and some of the stages of its development and print. Unfortunately, no cameras were allowed in the building. After stopping for lunch, we left Philly to head to our next stop, Atlantic City.
